I have been a bigg fan of Natural Icecream. I have tried almost all their seasonal flavors but can never get enough of it. Today I tried something new – Cranberry. It was really good, much like eating the actual fruit – sweet and sour.
I know I have been posting a string of cheat posts! I am still at hometown, enjoying with the newest member of our family. On any other day, blogging would have been the last thing I would think about when I am with family. But I have been obsessed with #NaBloPoMo . I don’t think I have done anything so diligently, ever. I am so so proud of myself.
Ok, this is going to be a cheat post again because I just got back home after watching Rock On 2. Both me and my eyes are extremely tired and I can’t wait to crash..
But, let me give a quick review of the movie before I go..Not sure how many of you remember Rock On (1?). Honestly, I have very few memories. Rock On 2 is sort of a continuation of the original one. The movie was a bit slow and not at all commercial. It was like watching a play or a serial. I don’t know why but I liked it!
I was telling S that its time people look beyond mirch masala and appreciate movies for performances, the thought process and the concept rather than giving too much importance to the star cast and the commercial aspect. So, Rock On 2 was quite slow but the overall story, the locations, the emotions were all fantastic. The music was really good and Usha Uthup rocked!!
I am sure all of you know what Quora is but I still wanted to write about it. I really love Quora and even if one person starts using it after reading this post then the purpose would be served. Quora is basically a Question and Answer social media site. Remember the good old Yahoo Answers page? Quora is very similar to that albeit much bigger audience.
I am still not an active Quoran since I neither ask questions nor answer. I use it primarily for exposure to diverse subjects. Quora has wealth of topics .It makes us realize that there are so many things that we need to know about, study and research. It gives you a realisation that there are so many aspects in life that we need to improve upon. Everytime, I read some inspiring story I get into a slight guilt that so much of my time and energy is wasted thinking about unnecessary politics, negativity and what not- that precious time which I could use for productive effort. Anyway, I am taking baby steps and havealready started implementing small self improvement steps that I have read in Quora.
I would urge you to give Quora a try if you haven’t already. I am sure you won’t be disappointed!
After a long sabbatical from reading, I decided to pick One Indian Girl by Chetan Bhagat. Chetan Bhagat is truly the most loved or, the most hated author in the country I have never been a big fan of Chetan but have always found his books to be light reads. Personally, I think he is average but yes, definitely over-rated. I really liked his 2 States and 5 Point Someone but hated a few. So when I got my hands on this one, I knew it could go any side.
When I went through the initial review, I found the book to very polarising. Either people were praising it or bashing it badly. Chetan’s books are more like Bollywood scripts. One Indian Girl is no exception.
The protagonist of this book is Radhika Mehta. She is a high-earning, successful investment banker who is opinionated and independent. She is also a feminist (or so they think). She is very intelligent and after her MBA degree from IIM; she lands herself a job as an investment banker at Goldman Sachs. The book is about her high flying life at Goldman Sachs ,her affairs and finally how she settles for an arranged marriage Anything more would lead to Spoilers so I would stop at this.
I had not expected anything different from this book or from Chetan Bhagat. As always I found the book neither too good not too bad. My only issue was with the level of detailing in certain places, like the waxing scene. It was as if Chetan Bhagat had actually waxed himself to come up with all those details :D. The other area which was too much was the sex scenes. I have no issues with sex being talked about, but too much detailing makes it erotic!!
Oh ya one last thing, there nothing feminist about Radhika’s character. I think Chetan has got the whole definition of feminist wrong. Successful, High Earning and Independent does not make one feminist!!
I am sure all of you have read the HISTORIC decision that Modiji just passed.. I am truely OVERWHELMED and OVERJOYED right now. There is so much I want to write and so much I want to talk but words fall short to express my feelings. Its probably the biggest crackdown against Black Money..The last I felt like this was when we won the Kargil War.
I often wondered and doubted if there is an end to evil. What is the use of being good, being honest, paying all the taxes duly when so many people are playing in Black Money and enjoying all the riches.. Modiji has instilled my faith in goodness!!
I definitely need to write more but for today let me bask in the sadistic pleasure!!
